writer . performer . editor . educator...
Dave is so prolific and his output so diverse that it can be hard to keep up. Here are some samples of the best work he has produced across a range of disciplines.
Fearless was one of the poems that blew the lid off the staid and sleepy world of Irish poetry back in the early noughties and opened the way for the spoken word revolution, a popular favourite that Dave has performed live all over the world, shocking audiences as much as it has thrilled them.
Outside of all Curriculums
As well as working in numerous schools, libraries and festivals with teenagers, Dave runs the famed Dublin Young Authors school for talented literary teens in partnership with the Big Smoke Writing factory. Here he talks about how to get the creative best out of young people.
Strolling around his housing estate one day with his young daughter, Dave came across graffiti of the Word Cunt. This is how he responded when his four year old asked him what it meant.
All Remaining Passengers
Fragment of an hour long Radio Art piece by Bernard Clarke based on Dave’s long poem Memwar. Like nothing you have ever heard before, believe it.
Because I Am Human
In 2012 Dave’s Mom Mary Lordan asked him to write a poem for a young relative who was being bullied. This was his response - now used as anti-bullying resource in schools and community orgs throughout the world.
The Pirate Show
An Alt.lit show with emphasis on the singing poet tradition then and now. It features live literature, performance, & spoken word/music crossovers in all their forms.
